🧰 AI Tools For Real Marketing Work

🧰 Smart tools. Useful tips. Weekly.

Hola friend 👋,

I’m Josep. Each week, I hunt down practical tools and productivity hacks to help digital doers like you do more with less effort.

This week: AI marketing tools that do more than write copy.

AI marketing tools can sometimes sound a bit… spammy. One minute you are promised a magical growth machine. The next, you are using an app that at its best rewrites the same LinkedIn post three different ways.

But there are useful ones, I promise. The trick is knowing where AI is actually improving the work, not just adding sparkles to it.

For this issue, I’m looking at several AI tools that actually will help you. Plus: a small async-video habit, and a very meta story about Reddit using AI to fight AI spam.

Your cookie banner might be doing less than you think.

Whether you use Shopify, WordPress, Wix, or another platform, a cookie banner is essential. But many simply display a popup without checking which trackers are running, creating compliance risks as new plugins and ad pixels are added.

Cookiebot by Usercentrics automatically scans and classifies your trackers, then displays a banner designed to meet GDPR, CCPA, and other regulations.

Setup takes minutes with no coding required. Tooltester readers get 10% off any plan for six months using the link below.

Predis.ai

Predis.ai is built for the part of marketing where you constantly need fresh social posts, captions, short videos, carousels, and simple ad creatives.

The useful bit is that it does not only start from a blank canvas. You can feed it a product, idea, blog post, or ecommerce item and ask it to turn that into platform-ready content. That makes it more useful than a basic “write me 10 captions” prompt in ChatGPT, especially if you already have good content (e.g. product images, decent posts, etc.) it can pull ideas from.

I’d still treat its output as a starting point rather than a finished expression of your brand voice – even after uploading brand assets. AI-generated social content can become repetitive quickly, so Predis.ai is likely most useful for ad concepts and fast creative variations, not as a hands-off tool for creating and publishing content without review.

The annoying part: there is no proper free plan, and the trial asks for credit card details, meh.

Riverside

Riverside is built for recording podcasts, interviews, webinars, and remote video conversations in higher quality than a normal video call. Features include separate audio and video tracks, screen sharing, live streaming, transcripts, clips, captions, and basic editing tools.

I don’t use Riverside myself, but I did consider it for the videos we make at Tooltester. I ended up choosing Descript because it gives me more flexibility when editing after the recording.

But if your priority is capturing high-quality remote conversations from the start (e.g. podcasts, interviews, expert chats, or webinars) Riverside is a very solid option.

LanguageTool

LanguageTool checks grammar, spelling, punctuation, and style wherever you write – across browsers, documents, emails, and its own editor. And because virtually every marketing task involves copy at some point, it is a handy tool to have in your stack.

I’ve always liked it because it was one of the best Grammarly alternatives, especially if you write in more than one language. (I write in Catalan, Spanish, and English, so that was a big deal for me.)

However, the newer AI features make it more interesting for marketing work too. It can help rewrite sentences, adjust tone, make copy simpler or more formal, and clean up rough drafts without turning everything into generic AI copy. What I like is that it builds on your draft instead of trying to rewrite it.

One complaint I have is that it has occasionally clashed with Chrome and slowed my browser down – although I can’t say for certain that LanguageTool was the cause.

✨ Totally Off-Topic… But Brilliant

Supademo is not exactly an AI marketing tool, but it fits the real-life problem behind a lot of marketing work: explaining a product clearly.

Instead of booking a call just to show someone where to click, you can create an interactive product walkthrough automatically. That can help with onboarding, sales demos, support articles, feature announcements, or quick “here’s how this works” explanations.

The free plan is useful for testing the idea. It includes 5 guided interactive demos, 50 video recordings in 4K, unlimited demo views, and sharing as a link, embed, video, or PDF.

I would not use it for a huge sales-demo library without checking the paid limits carefully. But for a freelancer, founder, or small team trying to explain a product more clearly, it is a useful tool to know.

⚡This Week’s Productivity Hack

You know that tiny question that somehow becomes a 30-minute call?

It starts with “Can you quickly show me?” or “Where exactly is the issue?” Then calendars open, time zones appear, and suddenly the simple thing is a meeting.

This week’s hack is to replace some of those calls with a quick async video. Record your screen, show the thing, explain what you need, and send the link.

It works especially well for feedback, bug reports, design comments, client walkthroughs, or mini tutorials. You can do it with Loom, Google Vids, Zoom Clips, Vidyard, Supademo, or similar tools.

A simple rule: if the topic needs context but not a live decision, try video first. The other person can watch it when they have time, pause it, replay it, and reply with better context.

The payoff is less calendar clutter, and fewer calls that only existed because text was too clumsy.

🍿 Plot Twist of the Week

The internet has reached a very strange point: AI is now being used to clean up problems created by AI.

According to TechCrunch, Reddit developed LLM-based tools to reduce spam, much of which is itself created with LLMs – doesn’t it sound like something straight out of a Monty Python sketch?

Reddit said it blocks 23 million spam views per day and catches about 25,000 new spam posts and comments daily.

What a wasteful loop. AI makes it cheap to produce fake comments, hype, recommendations, and conversations, then more AI is trained to spot fake comments, hype, recommendations, and conversations.

The lesson? If you’re going to use AI, at least put it to good use.

Thanks for reading! Next week: 3 apps for easier business admin. Because the boring work still needs to get done.

Cheers,

Josep

This week: a CRM your team might actually be able to use. CRM stands for customer relationship management, but it does not need to mean a huge corporate system.
