🧰 Feeling Stuck? Mentoring Platforms Can Help

🧰 Smart tools. Useful tips. Weekly.

Hola friend 👋,

I’m Josep. Each week, I hunt down practical tools and productivity hacks to help digital doers like you do more with less effort.

Know someone who’d love this newsletter? 2,000+ readers already do (thanks 🙌). Share it with friends & colleagues so they can join too.

This week: tools for the lonely wolf.

I love the freedom that comes with being a solopreneur: flexible schedules, the ability to choose what I work on, and exposure to all aspects of a business – who doesn't love the thrill of gathering invoices and expenses at the end of the quarter?

Jokes aside, it can feel isolating and overwhelming at times, especially when exploring a new strategy or tactic. That's why I've been looking into getting some mentorship for guidance and, frankly, for some human contact too.

I think I need to make this a regular thing 🙌

GrowthMentor

If you're looking for practical advice from people who have actually been there, GrowthMentor is a great place to start. It connects you with a community of vetted mentors for 1-on-1 sessions on topics like marketing, product, and sales.

I’ve had a couple of sessions with experts on the platform and have always been pleased. They gave me some great advice on my YouTube efforts, and pivoting my side-hustle from a site to a video-first approach.

I know Robert, founder of EmailTooltester.com and Tooltester.com, has had great experiences with GrowthMentor. It helped him (and the company) level up their branding and internal organization.

It’s not cheap; that’s its main drawback. But you are paying for access to experienced professionals with impressive backgrounds. However, some users have mentioned that it can be hard to find a mentor with very niche expertise.

That’s why it works best for entrepreneurs and marketers who need targeted advice without the long-term commitment of a traditional coach. And use our link to get a free session!

Mindvalley

Mindvalley is a bit different. It's a platform focused on personal growth (also business and entrepreneurship), offering a huge library of courses on everything from mindfulness and productivity to relationships and well-being. They also have a coaching platform where you can connect with certified professionals.

Some of the course topics can feel a bit on the edge, science-wise, and maybe too "hypey" for a skeptic like me. But, it's a massively successful platform geared toward inner exploration and self-improvement – it also has many business-oriented programs by top instructors.

While I've only tested a few of their courses, I'd consider their coaching services next time I'm looking for a more holistic approach to personal and professional development. Of course, prices vary depending on the professional you pick.

💰 From $99/month (for the course platform) | No free plan available

Coaching.com

If you're looking for a more traditional, marketplace-style approach to finding a coach, Coaching.com is an option to consider. It's a platform where you can find and hire certified coaches for business, executive, and personal development.

The platform is geared more towards businesses and organizations looking to provide coaching for their employees, but individuals can also find coaches in their marketplace. They offer a wide range of coaches with different specializations and price points, so you can find someone who fits your needs and budget.

This is for individuals and businesses who want a simple, no-fuss way to find a certified coach.

📣 App Deals & Offers

Some useful tool deals we spotted this week, which are worth a look if you're into smart savings.

💸 Miro: $1,000 in credits, lifetime validity, for their collaborative whiteboard tool.

💸 Linear: 1 year free on Basic or Business plans (2 seats), saving up to $384 of this tool for developers.

💸 Zendesk: 6 months free on their customer success support suite, saving up to $50,000.

✨ Totally Off-Topic… But Brilliant

In a world of fake reviews and anonymous trolls, collecting genuine testimonials from real clients is more important than ever. That's where Senja comes in.

Senja is a tool that helps you collect, manage, and share testimonials from your customers. You can create a "wall of love" on your website, share testimonials as social media posts, and even embed them in your email signature.

What makes Senja stand out is its focus on making the process easy and even fun for your customers. You can create a collection page with a simple form, and even add a bit of gamification to encourage people to leave a review.

It’s a great way to build social proof and show potential customers that you’re the real deal.

⚡This Week’s Productivity Hack

I wanted to help a friend create a QR code for their coffee shop the other day, and I was surprised at how easy it was. I even managed to add their logo to it in seconds – see below for a test I created for Tooltester.com.

I used a free tool called Hovercode to do it. Here’s how:

  1. Go to hovercode.com/qr-code-generator-with-logo/
  2. Enter the URL you want the QR code to link to (don’t forget your UTMs)
  3. Upload your logo or choose from one of their predefined patterns
  4. Customize the colors to match your brand
  5. Download your new, branded QR code

It’s a simple trick, but it makes your QR codes look much more professional and on-brand.

🍿 Plot Twist of the Week

I know someone who knows someone (the best stories always start that way) who found out their company was in serious trouble in a very modern way – sorry, I can’t name sources here.

Everyone at their startup was sharing the same ChatGPT account to save a few bucks – we’ve all been there, sharing accounts around.

One day, an employee logged in and started scrolling through the chat history (#notTooBusyToday).

She came across a conversation where the CEO was asking ChatGPT about the best way to lay off half the workforce 😬 (#needToGetBusyASAP).

Lesson learned: don’t share your ChatGPT (or any AI assistant) account, especially if you’re the CEO. If you absolutely must, at least use the “Temporary Chat” feature to avoid leaving a trail – it’s basically incognito mode for your AI conversations.

That’s it for this week. Thanks for reading! Next time, we're doing a special issue on tools I think you should avoid, and what to use instead.

Cheers,

Josep
